Books, large print books, audiobooks, CDs, educational DVDs, and articles not available in Elkhart Public Library’s collection may be available to cardholders through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) program. Libraries have the ability to share collections across the United States. Generally, it takes two weeks or more to receive materials.
ILL is available to EPL cardholders in good standing, meaning current registration with no outstanding overdue materials.
Some items – such as new releases, popular movies, and reference and genealogy items – may not be obtainable.
Borrowed items are subject to fees for damaged or lost materials.
Renewals are not always available. Any renewal requests are subject to approval by the lending library and must be made three (3) days before the due date. To renew an ILL item, email ill@myepl.org or call the Reference Desk: 574-522-5669.
Placing a request:

- Stop at the Downtown Library Reference Desk or the Circulation Desk of any branch to fill out an ILL request form.
