Holiday activities and things to do in Elkhart

The holiday season is here.

Elkhart Public Library has lots of great programs for the holiday season that are sure to entertain and enlighten the entire family.

We’ve also included some great area seasonal activities, too.

Wellfield Botanic Gardens hosts their Winter Wonderland Holiday Lights beginning Friday, Nov. 25 and select dates through December. You can check out our Story Walk while seeing the beautiful light displays.

Tuesday, Nov. 29

Children ages 6 to 17 will be creating holiday cards with stamping materials, glitter and more at 4:30 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 1

Songs in the Stacks, hosted at the Downtown library, features members of the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet playing holiday favorites.

Saturday, Dec. 3

Holiday Ornament Workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cleveland features three types of ornaments to make and hot chocolate and cookies.

Elkhart’s NIBCO Ice and Water Park opens for ice skating at noon.

Downtown Elkhart Winterfest features activities all around downtown, starting at 8 a.m. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the library has a bounce house inside and photos with Santa.

Following the downtown tree lighting ceremony and parade, Darryl Buchanan plays a Holiday Revue in the library’s atrium from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 7

Teens are invited to make a unique ornament Downtown and enjoy snacks from 4:30 to 6 p.m. This series continues on Wednesdays Dec. 14 and 21.

Thursday, Dec. 8

At Dunlap, enjoy An Ornamental Evening from 3 to 6 p.m. and make some ornaments.

Friday, Dec. 9

At 10 a.m. the Downtown library is hosting an Olaf Preschool Party.

Wednesday, Dec. 14

Teens are invited to make a unique ornament Downtown and enjoy snacks from 4:30 to 6 p.m. This series continues on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Saturday, Dec. 17

Strike a Chord, a local piano school, will perform holiday songs Downtown from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Monday, Dec. 19

Our annual Christmas Party with Santa and Mrs. Claus is from 4 to 6 p.m. Downtown.

Wednesday, Dec. 21

Teens are invited to make a unique ornament and enjoy snacks Downtown from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Dec. 27-30

Don’t let the break from Christmas to New Year’s leave you bored. Dunlap will have a make-and-take craft available during open hours and Cleveland will have activities available daily during open hours.
