Elkhart Public Library’s Growing Readers helps children ages 3 to 8 prepare for success in reading and school.
A few things to know before you sign up:
- Sessions are 30 minutes weekly on weekdays between 12:30 and 6 p.m.
- Lessons are tailored to each child and led by a certified reading teacher.
- Lessons focus on pre-reading, reading and writing skills, as well as executive function skills of focus and self-control.
- Parent participation is expected, as we find this is integral to the success of students.
- Homework, in the form of library books, will be sent home weekly to reinforce the lesson, so remember to bring your library card. If you don’t have one, sign up here or we’ll help you get one.
- Growing Readers has a waitlist, but most students get in within 1-2 months of signing up.
If this is a program that you think would be beneficial to your child, or to take a pre-K assessment to see if it’s right for your child, fill out the form below or email Sonya Overman for more information.
