Hoopla’s simple sign-up and user-friendly interface make it easy to access. Content is instantly available – no waiting! The automatic return feature means no late fees!

Get the free hoopla digital app for Android or iOS, or visit hoopladigital.com to borrow titles from major Hollywood studios, record companies and publishers – all available for instant streaming or temporary download.

Once you have downloaded the app to your device or clicked on the hoopla digital link on our website, you will be prompted to enter your email address, a password, your library card number, and your Library PIN. Once the system validates that your Library account is in good standing, you can instantly browse, borrow, and enjoy!

Here’s how it works:

  • When you borrow a title on one device it is automatically available on all of your devices with the hoopla digital app and via your PC web browser.
  • You can begin streaming the content immediately or download to view at a later date (just in case you won’t have Wi-Fi on that camping trip).

Just in: Exciting new changes to hoopla! On Thursday, September 8, 2016, hoopladigital.com will get an upgrade. In addition to a new look, the site will feature improvements to enhance your experience:

Quick links to borrowed titles, favorites and history, as well as to each of the formats your library supports, create better, more personal user experiences. You will also be able to learn more about the hoopla story.

Faster browsing
Your mobile browsing experience will be faster and more responsive!

Filtering and updated category landing pages allow for quick browsing of collections and genres.

Built-in audio players
No more new tabs or windows just to listen and browse! Audio players for music and audiobooks are now built right into the page, and can be played immediately while browsing.

The registration process will be streamlined, simplifying the experience for new users!

As a result of the upgrade, if you already have an account, you will be logged out of hoopla on your browser. You will need to log in again with your email and password. If you don’t remember your password, you can use the “Forgot your password? ” link under the login button to change it, or contact hoopla via the help link at the very bottom of the page. (If you have your password stored in your browser, simply click the email sign in box, select the email that pops up and both your email and password will be filled in.)

Driving Permit Practice Tests @ EPL

Access free practice tests for your Indiana driver’s permit (car and motorcycle) through EPL’s Online Resources. Take the tests as many times as you like. You will get immediate feedback on your answers. Questions are based on the Indiana BMV Driver’s manual, which is accessible from the practice test site. The site also includes three CDL practice tests. To use this resource, you need to have an Elkhart Public Library card OR accessing from any EPL location via Wi-Fi or Library computer.

2.    Click or tap >> Kids and Teens or >> Online Learning Courses
3.    Select Driving-Tests.org
4.    Enter your library card number (no spaces) at the prompt
5.    If you are in the Library, select Driving-Tests.org (card number is not required when accessing from inside the Library)

Homework Help


Homework Help at All EPL Locations

Homework Help is available to all students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. National Honor Society students from Elkhart Central and Memorial High Schools will be on hand to help in many different subjects, and on a first come, first served basis.

Students should bring their assignments, as well as needed materials and supplies.

Times and Locations:

Homework Help is offered from September 7 – May 21. For more information, feel free to give us a call.

Erin Morgenstern’s 2011 debut novel, THE NIGHT CIRCUS, is this year’s selection for
One Book, One Michiana, a month-long, community-wide series of events centered on a single book selected by the St. Joseph County Public Library. THE NIGHT CIRCUS is an “utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.”

The Circus is Coming!

We will kick off our One Book, One Michiana festivities at the Main Library with A Day at the (Night) Circus on Saturday, March 28, from 9 am to 1 pm. Join us for games, prizes, balloon animals, face painting, and a magician! Throughout April, you will be treated to magic shows, circus & steampunk projects, special movies, photo ops, and a fantastical array of activities to amaze and amuse.

Join your fellow Doctor Who fans at the Main Library for a celebration of all things Who, Tuesday, June 3 from 4-5 in Room 7.  We will have some creative Doctor Who crafts, you can pose for a picture with the TARDIS, and play an exciting game of Weeping Angel tag. Win a prize if you dress as your favorite Doctor!  Ages 12-18.

Is Frankenstein’s Monster Possible?

frankcoverIs it possible to create a Frankenstein monster? We welcome Elkhart County Coroner Dr. John White, who will tell us whether or not an actual Frankenstein is feasible. He will also fill us in on what he does all day, which generally does not include re-animating corpses. Join us at the Main Library on Wednesday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. for a live-ly presentation.

This program kicks off One Book, One Michiana 2014, a month-long, community-wide series of discussions and events centered around a single book chosen by the St. Joseph County Public Library.

I ♥ My Library Because…

February was Library Lovers Month.  Children, teens and adults who visited the Main Library were invited to write “I ♥ my Library because…” on hearts for display on the Circulation desk.


There are lots of variations on “… because I love to read,”  “… for the [books/movies/CDs/computers]”, and “… because of the [nice/friendly/kind/helpful] staff.”   Here are some of our favorites.  We have pretty much kept the spelling and grammar as written on the hearts. Enjoy!
