For One Book, One Michiana 2014, people in our area are reading FRANKENSTEIN by Mary Shelley. There are many Frankenstein activities planned. The Elkhart Public Library has lots of FrankenFun in store for you. These activities are for families and children. Van de Graaff Generator Demonstration
Come see electrifying, even hair-raising experiments. Bring the family, enjoy, be amazed, and maybe even assist. See the Van de Graff generator at these times and places:

Make Your Own Monster
Use parts from stuffed toys to make your own FrankenMonster. Monsters may be displayed so the public can vote on their favorites. Children under 13 must be actively supervised by an adult. The monster lab will be at the Main Library all month, and the “traveling” lab will be at each branch for a week.

Fun Family Movie
Bring the family, have some popcorn and enjoy! This movie is about young Victor, who conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences. Rated PG

Each week during the month of April, stop by the Cleveland Branch and pick up that week’s Frankenstein kit. The kit will contain a Frankenstein craft and handouts.

Osolo Branch Kids’ Book Club: FRANNY K. STEIN: FRANTASTIC VOYAGE

Join in the fun and read FRANTASTIC VOYAGE one of the books in the FRANNY K. STEIN: MAD SCIENTIST series. During the sessions, readers are encouraged to read aloud. Frankenstein Make-It-Take-It Craft at the Pierre Moran Branch

Stop by the Pierre Moran Branch Library to create your very own monster! Only this time it will be out of toilet paper rolls, construction paper, and googly eyes. This craft lasts the entire week so stop by when it is convenient.
Family Movie Night at the Pierre Moran Branch

Bring the family, have some popcorn and enjoy an animated film featuring the voices of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Emily Watson. When a shy groom practices his wedding vows in the inadvertent presence of a deceased young woman, she rises from the grave assuming he has married her. Rated PG.
